경기판단을 위한 생활지표 활용방안

Abstract

본고는 경제주체의 체감경기를 잘 반영하면서도 우리 주변에서 손쉽게 입수할 수 있는 현실밀착형 생활지표들을 적극 발굴하여 경기판단 보조지표로의 활용가능성을 점검하고 있다. 총 50여 개의 고려대상 지표 중 통계의 접근성․신뢰성․시의성을 충족하는 15개 지표를 대상으로 ① 경기지표에 대한 선행성, ② 회귀모형의 설명력 증대, ③ 표본구간 외 예측력 개선 여부를 분석했다. 분석결과 주화발행잔액, 신규 구인등록수, 국립공원 입장객수, 영업용 승합차․화물차 등록대수는 세 가지 기준 모두에서 광고경기실사지수, 신규 구직등록수, 소형상용차 내수판매대수 지표는 두 항목에서 유의한 결과를 보여 이들 지표는 경기판단의 보조지표로서 활용될 수 있음을 시사했다.

This study seeks to detect readily obtainable, real-life proximate indices which closely follow the sentiment of economic agents, and to test their practicality as supporting indicators in identifying the business cycle. First, we selected 15 indices from a total of 50 indices considered, based on accessibility, credibility and timeliness. And then we analyzed these 15 indices to find whether they (1) lead the business cycle, (2) enhance the explanatory power of the regression model and (3) improve the predictive power of the sample period. The results show that the balance of mintage issued, newly registered job offerings, number of national park visitors, and registered vehicles for business purposes satisfy all three criteria while the survey index for advertising, persons newly seeking jobs, and domestic sales of small vehicles satisfy two of the three criteria, suggesting that these indices may properly be utilized as supporting business cycle indicators.
